Here is the newest stock firmware for Tronsmart Vega S89 series, version number is 104k4, why 104k4? the last stock firmware is 102k4, factory give me a 103k4 to fix the bugs you are talking, and then i find google play store show no connection problem in 103k4, and amlogic also release some new patches, so i also ask factory to add in this 104k4, so let’s just skip the 103k4 and use this 104k4, All of the second bulk order have been shipped with the newest 104k4 firmware.

Compare with the OLD XBMC version,it added 4K and RMVB support, now it don’t need to call external mx player to play 4K and RMVB video, can do that with internal player.

Yesterday we release the new stock firmware 104k4 for the tronsmart vega s89 series, today bob finless finish a new custom rom base on that, it’s amazing fast!!

changelog:

1) Properly rooted using SuperSU. What does properly mean?
Android 4.4.2 requires SU to be running as a daemon now. There are many ways to run this as a daemon.
Most roots so far are using a install-recovery.sh script or if init.d is enabled, a init.d script.
This means you could lose root if messing with these scripts which some rooted apps do!
What I have done is started the daemon in init.rc thus eliminating the need for boot scripts!
This took me a while to learn to do! Enjoy a BETTER ROOT!

2) Updated Google framework and Play Store core files. The ones in the stock ROM were out of date.
On first boot NOTHING will need to be updated once you logon to Google Play.

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
There was quite a few useless hidden apps in this KitKat release! Some of them did not even work.
I did remove XBMC and other pre-install APPs as well. I like a CLEAN ROM that you the user can setup the way you want. Having APPs in /system leaves that junk in there forever (unless you delete them by hand with a root explorer). If you want the original XBMC APP then download it from Geekbuying.com

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is… ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say “not compatible”.
I am spoofing a Samsung device (Nexus 10) that will show almost any APP as compatible.
This should also allow Netflix HD but I have not tested it.
Your device will show up in google play as Nexus 10 device not a Vega S89! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a Vega.

7) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to recovery for easier updates.

8) Carrier spoof (T-Mobile) for better APP compatibility.

9) The usual tweaks I do for better performance e.g. TCP buffers sizes, etc etc.

10) Added bonus! CPU fixer patches!
In this ZIP is a CPU_fixer folder. These zips can be used to adjust your minimum CPU frequency and Governor.

Here is the instruction for how to change the ethernet MAC address in Tronsmart Vega S89 series. It should work on tronsmart vega s89 standard, s89 elite, and s89-h.

So why should i release this?

Some customers get several  tronsmart vega s89 and use them in one home, they report those vega s89 can’t use at the same time, when one can get ethernet, the other are not. so it is caused by the same mac address problem, In this case, you should use the following method, and change the MAC address. but if you only have one tronsmart vega s89 in your hand, so you can pass this instruction, here we go:

1 Download the tools here:

2 Decompress the file you just downloaded, and copy the folder ” License” to C:\Program Files(X86)\Amlogic \USB_buring_tool

This tool will direct give you newest mac address to the tronsmart vega s89.

TRONSMART VEGA S89 Series is the first 4K Android Media Player, powered by the amlogic s802 CPU, up to 2.0Ghz. Mali 450 GPU, it should be the most powerful android tv box in the world right now.

bob finless will always help to make custom roms for this device, so all credit to him. Now let’s check the change log:

1) Properly rooted using SuperSU and su binary is running as a daemon not a boot script! 

2) Updated Google framework and Play Store core files. The ones in the stock ROM were out of date.
On first boot NOTHING will need to be updated once you logon to Google Play.
That is as of this date.

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
There was quite a few useless hidden apps in this KitKat release! Some of them did not even work.
I did remove XBMC and other pre-install APPs as well. I like a CLEAN ROM that you the user can setup the way you want. Having APPs in /system leaves that junk in there forever (unless you delete them by hand with a root explorer). 
If you want the original XBMC APP then download it from HERE.
I prefer the standard XBMC 13.1 Gotham though! Uses it all the time on this ROM while testing.

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is… ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) I fixed the AOSP Launcher for several things:
Removed the Google search bar by request.
Added more than one screen for scrolling.
Updated the dock icons to things more useful.
Apps installed with Google Play will automatically be added to the home screen.
I think you will like this launcher better 

6) Fix the bottom navigation bar.
There was a bug in 106K in that on first boot the navigation bar is seen and it stuck there,
even though in Mbox Settings it is set to hide the navigation bar!
Before this fix you had to go into Mbox settings>screen and toggle hide bar off and back on to make it work.
This is now fixed. It is hidden per the default Mbox settings on boot.

7) By request I added the calendar APP and it now syncs with your Google account.

8) By request I added a new KL file Vendor_03e7_Product_0d01.kl for the Mele f10pro.
Special thanks to FreakTab user Biatsch for the file.

9) Xbox and PS3 added to the ROM. No more patching required!
FYI, woomg I think is still working on PS3 Bluetooth support.

Firmware update instruction:

Download the zip; copy it to a usb memory or external Microsd card; Boot in recovery, select wipe data/factory reset (it will erase your internal sdcard and apps); and select Install from EXT, select the zip file and wait until it finish, then select in recovery reboot.
Once the ROM is installed, after first boot it will reboot the Box to properly installation of some configurations, so wait a couple of minutes in the welcome screen and it will reboot automatically.

So what’s it?

 This is a installable firmware which will replace your Android firmware, so after you flash this firmware, you will lose android firmware, and will boot to Linux XBMC directly  when you power on;

Why do i need this?

let’s see what does other  people say after they flash:

Working Great on s89H , Match frame rate set to each video working perfect  so much happier now with playback 24hz  and whatever else it requires. Working From Lan right from boot.

All xbmc plugins installing with no issues. 
Steaming From Network Drive 1080p MKVs no issues at all, fast skip / rewind, seek etc.
Boots very fast, even the XBMC Gui is faster , you can feel it , very snappy compared to being installed on top of android.

Shudown function now working good  this really is sweet!

Installation instructions:

Extract downloaded ZIP file and put it on your sdcard. Now you have two options:

1 Boot into Android and select AMLinux-S82-update.zip to install it (keep in mind that sdcard with recovery.img file must be in device)

2 Power off device, press reset button with toothpick which is inside A/V connector and power device back on. This will automatically install AMLinux and boot into it.

Wifi connectivity:

When XBMC is fully booted, under Programs you do have Network-Manager addon which will manage your wireless network connections.

Ethernet connectivity:

Disable WiFi connections if any active, plug in ethernet cable and reboot device.

Known bugs:

When on 720p resolution, shutting down splash screens are not always visible

Untested 4K video output, not even sure if 4K will be listed as supported resolution when connected to 4K TV.

More need to be reported.

3 Open USB_buring tools, and load the Key_523.img from your download file, and you will see this:

Make sure you load the correct img file, and make sure you choose the ” overwrite key” and then you should connect your Trosmart device with your pc. same like what you did in flashing firmware, and click Start.

This tool will direct give you newest mac address to the tronsmart vega s89.

Here is the change log for this update:

Till now, the engineer is working hard to add the 1080p 24hz resolution, and it will be added in next update 106k4.

The OTA function will be added at the end of this month.

TRONSMART VEGA S89 Series is the first 4K Android Media Player, powered by the amlogic s802 CPU, up to 2.0Ghz. Mali 450 GPU, it should be the most powerful android tv box in the world right now.

bob finless will always help to make custom roms for this device, so all credit to him. Now let’s check the change log:

1) Properly rooted using SuperSU and su binary is running as a daemon not a boot script! 

2) Updated Google framework and Play Store core files. The ones in the stock ROM were out of date.
On first boot NOTHING will need to be updated once you logon to Google Play.
That is as of this date.

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
There was quite a few useless hidden apps in this KitKat release! Some of them did not even work.
I did remove XBMC and other pre-install APPs as well. I like a CLEAN ROM that you the user can setup the way you want. Having APPs in /system leaves that junk in there forever (unless you delete them by hand with a root explorer). 
If you want the original XBMC APP then download it from HERE.
I prefer the standard XBMC 13.1 Gotham though! Uses it all the time on this ROM while testing.

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is… ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) I fixed the AOSP Launcher for several things:
Removed the Google search bar by request.
Added more than one screen for scrolling.
Updated the dock icons to things more useful.
Apps installed with Google Play will automatically be added to the home screen.
I think you will like this launcher better 

6) Fix the bottom navigation bar.
There was a bug in 106K in that on first boot the navigation bar is seen and it stuck there,
even though in Mbox Settings it is set to hide the navigation bar!
Before this fix you had to go into Mbox settings>screen and toggle hide bar off and back on to make it work.
This is now fixed. It is hidden per the default Mbox settings on boot.

7) By request I added the calendar APP and it now syncs with your Google account.

8) By request I added a new KL file Vendor_03e7_Product_0d01.kl for the Mele f10pro.
Special thanks to FreakTab user Biatsch for the file.

9) Xbox and PS3 added to the ROM. No more patching required!
FYI, woomg I think is still working on PS3 Bluetooth support.

10) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say “not compatible”.
I am spoofing a Samsung device (Nexus 10) that will show almost any APP as compatible.
This should also allow Netflix HD but I have not tested it.
Your device will show up in google play as Nexus 10 device not a S82/S89! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig. 
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a S82/S89.

11) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to recovery for easier updates.

12) Added bonus! CPU fixer patches!
In this ZIP is a CPU_fixer folder. These zips can be used to adjust your minimum CPU frequency and Governor.
See the README.txt in that folder for an explanation and how to install them.

13) 720p fix patch! 
This is for people with 720P TVs and want stock XBMC to work e.g. like Gotham 13.1.
In this download is a folder with the 720P patch and a unpatcher if you need it.
In there is also the 720P patch compatible CPU Fixer patches.
SEE THE README IN THAT FOLDER for an explanation of what the 720P patcher is all about.

14) Carrier spoofs for better APP compatibility.

15) The usual tweaks I do for better performance e.g. TCP buffers sizes, etc etc.

16) Did a little “themeing” to the system. I hope you like it. I do

Firmware update instruction:

Download the zip; copy it to a usb memory or external Microsd card; Boot in recovery, select wipe data/factory reset (it will erase your internal sdcard and apps); and select Install from EXT, select the zip file and wait until it finish, then select in recovery reboot.
Once the ROM is installed, after first boot it will reboot the Box to properly installation of some configurations, so wait a couple of minutes in the welcome screen and it will reboot automatically.

So what’s it?

 This is a installable firmware which will replace your Android firmware, so after you flash this firmware, you will lose android firmware, and will boot to Linux XBMC directly  when you power on;

Why do i need this?

let’s see what does other  people say after they flash:

Working Great on s89H , Match frame rate set to each video working perfect  so much happier now with playback 24hz  and whatever else it requires. Working From Lan right from boot.

All xbmc plugins installing with no issues. 
Steaming From Network Drive 1080p MKVs no issues at all, fast skip / rewind, seek etc.
Boots very fast, even the XBMC Gui is faster , you can feel it , very snappy compared to being installed on top of android.

Shudown function now working good  this really is sweet!

Installation instructions:

Extract downloaded ZIP file and put it on your sdcard. Now you have two options:

1 Boot into Android and select AMLinux-S82-update.zip to install it (keep in mind that sdcard with recovery.img file must be in device)

2 Power off device, press reset button with toothpick which is inside A/V connector and power device back on. This will automatically install AMLinux and boot into it.

Wifi connectivity:

When XBMC is fully booted, under Programs you do have Network-Manager addon which will manage your wireless network connections.

Ethernet connectivity:

Disable WiFi connections if any active, plug in ethernet cable and reboot device.

Known bugs:

When on 720p resolution, shutting down splash screens are not always visible

Untested 4K video output, not even sure if 4K will be listed as supported resolution when connected to 4K TV.

More need to be reported.

Warning!! Only flash this when you know what it is!!!
